Can an accident actually be an accident for once in this show. Like can things just be an honest mistake, no foul play involved for a change

in this case, the witness statements on the train are wrong or lying to the police. i just watched the scene where they're interviewing the guy who owned the backpack. and either the screenwriters or the fansubbers got the ENTIRE gist of the witness statements WRONG! the dead guy asked around the traincar who that backpack belonged to. the folks he talked to didn't know who the bag belonged to. well. they knew the guy who owned the bag had been gone for a while. if somebody walks up to you and you have what you thought was abandoned luggage... give them the damn bag and go about your day.

or. guess what, it coulda been a bomb! every. sign. all. over. Japan at every. train/bus/ferry station! says! REPORT SUSPICIOUS/ABANDONED BAGS! DO NOT TOUCH THEM! if the dead guy was a regular 'returner of lost luggage'... the train company employees would be telling him to STOP THAT RIGHT NOW! and don't do it again! EVER! the ricin attacks on Japanese subway trains were either remote triggerd, or they were triggered when SOMBODY BUMPED/GRABBED THE BAG! to take it in. THOSE SPECIFIC ATTACKS have made the Japanese CRAZY AZZ PARANOID about baggage on trains. many. people. died. in those train ricin attacks. you remember the 'anthrax white powder in the mail' scares in the USA? for over a decade, the Japanese were that bleeping paranoid about 'personal bags' on their commuter systems.

because, the witnesses said the dead guy got on the train AFTER the dude who the bag belonged to walked off (to use the toilet he said).

ahhh...also... another problem... what subway train has a toilet? unless that's a long-distance commuter... they don't have toilets. ya gotta hold it, step off the train at the next station, find a toilet, annnd get on the next train going where you want to go. subways are metal boxes on wheels, there's no amenities... just light and seats, and bars, and handles and hopefully working AC and Heat.

also, the writing sucks ass. the part where the guy gets stabbed multiple times in the back of his hand by the ballpoint pen was NOT in the original scene of the fight. the guy is holding onto the bag's strap... and the strap rips, and the BACK OF THE GUY'S HAND is clearly NOT wounded... but 'suddenly' during Kogoro's detective show the very CRAPPILY DRAWN dots Conan sees from SEVERAL FEET AWAY on the corpse's hand comes into play.

shit writing guys. shit writing. this is one of the worst single episode cases i've seen on Conan yet. terribly disappointing.

What a terrible case. Incredibly random, almost no signs of foul play but Conan expects a murder anyway and the writers pulled the whole ball pen thing out of their asses, there was no pen in the fight scene.
One of the worst filler so far and it could even have been somewhat decent if it was just an accident, nothing more.

02:04 watching Kogoro and Conan Getting together is really nice. Him being like a real father for once. Or maybe he was just hungry and craving some ramen 🍜
12:55 and 13:25 the phone just magically changed colour. That got my Detective senses tingling. Maybe he took the victims phone? It is also suspicious to look for your pen 🖊️ but then ask for one. What did he realise in that moment?
13:40 so he can just preview what happened casually when he is at a crime scene?

My favorite part of this op is when Conan trips and falls on his head. 2:04, Kogoro and Conan hanging out like a family even without Ran's interfearence is precious. We don't often get to see just Kogoro and Conan hang out. Kogoro just wanted to have family time with his kid- I mean freeloader. 17:18, well rip to all the people who keep their phones in their bags, I guess that's suspicous. I personally usually would keep my phone in my backpack whenever I used one because I didn't like how heavy my phone was in my pocket. 23:10, let him have his ramen. 23:41, don't be rude Conan, he took you to a french restraunt and then wanted to go get ramen with you.

The overall storyline of the manga seems to be balanced.
As a whole, I find the manga to be a well-balanced story.
